The Crime of the Century
I got the Crime of the Century audio to work by accessing it through the Webliography section. It was a wonderful, relaxing and centering exercise. I am familiar with the chakras and their corresponding emotions, energy and body regions. I loved this exercise! The one thing I did differently was, rather than imagining sending out the color from by body, I imagined drawing the color in from the world around to blend with the color from myself – a way of connecting to the universe. I felt very relaxed and sleepy at the beginning of the exercise and thought I would fall asleep, but didn’t. I ended feeling relaxed but alert and ready to get on with my work.

Unit 3 Assignment
This week’s assignment asked to answer some specific questions about how we see our own wellness; to take a holistic personal inventory. Here are the questions and my responses:
1. Based on your reflections, and on a scale of 1 to 10 (ten being optimal wellbeing), where do you rate your A-physical wellbeing, B-spiritual well-being, C-psychological well-being? Why?
A-Physical well-being –6: Although I exercise, eat a healthy diet and avoid harmful activities my physical wellbeing isn’t as good as I’d like. I suffer from knee pain from overuse as a runner and I have neck and shoulder pain (and have had surgery) because of injuries sustained when I was younger ( and less concerned about my health). I was pleased with the result of a resent blood work up that showed I am in the normal range on all measured components. At almost 45 years old I consider this to be an accomplishment, especially with a family history of high blood pressure, heart disease and diabetes.
B-Spiritual well-being –7: I was introduced to the concept of spiritual health when I was in my 20’s and suffering from an addiction problem. Many feel that addiction is a spiritual illness and I tend to agree. As part of my recovery it was necessary for me to address the spiritual aspects of wellness and develop a more solid spiritual base for my life. As a result, today I feel that I have the developed some strong resources for coping with whatever comes my way in life. I also think that there is always room from growth and improvement. I strive for progress, not protection.
C-Psychological well-being - 7: To me this means having the ability to cope well with everyday events and stressors so that they don’t have a negative impact on my health. Being able to deal with the demand of parenting, work, school work, and unexpected problems all fall under this category. So does taking responsibility for what is mine and not feeling responsible for other people’s issues, being part of a partnership but not having to control someone else, and not relying on other people to take care of me.
2. Develop a goal for yourself in each area (physical, spiritual, psychological).
Physical – My goal in this area is to continue to build my physical strength, agility and endurance.
Spiritual – My goal is to incorporate an exercise into my daily life that helps me get in touch with the spiritual nature of my existence.
Psychological well-being – My goal is to find additional ways to relieve stress. I currently rely solely on exercise but that isn’t always an option.
3. What activities or exercise can you implement in your life to assist in moving toward each goal?
Physical - I will try new forms of exercise such as yoga and dance to keep myself motivated and interested. I will continue to improve my diet, eliminating more unhealthy foods.
Spiritual - I liked the exercise Dacher (Integral Health, 2006) used for visualization in Chapter 5 and will try using this regularly.
